EnjoyCards is a free flashcard maker and flashcard app for iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows and macOS. Type a word or paste a whole word list, and AI builds the cards for you — meaning, pronunciation, example sentences, collocations and a grammar tip. FSRS spaced repetition then decides when each card comes back, so a deck you build once keeps working for you.
Cards are generated and stored online, then synced across the devices on your account. Once a deck is downloaded, you can review it offline and everything syncs again when you are back online.
What the AI flashcard maker puts on each card
Type a single word or phrase in any of 100+ language pairs, and the AI fills in the fields a good vocabulary card needs:
- Meaning in your target language — a definition rather than a word-for-word translation
- Meaning in your own language — so you understand the concept, not just the label
- Pronunciation — IPA for English, pinyin with tone marks for Chinese, romaji for Japanese, and the equivalent for other scripts
- Part of speech — noun, verb, adjective and so on
- Two to three example sentences, each with a translation
- Common collocations — the pairings that show up in real speech
- A grammar tip written for learners of that language
Text-to-speech audio is available for words and example sentences, so a card can be read aloud during review.
How to create flashcards with AI
- Add a word or phrase. Type it in, or paste a list with one word per line.
- Let the AI build the cards. Single words come back as finished cards; a list runs as a background job with visible progress.
- Edit what needs editing. Every field is editable, and any single field can be regenerated on its own instead of rebuilding the whole card.
- Review. The FSRS scheduler picks the next date for each card based on how well you remembered it.
Batch mode: a word list to a finished deck
Batch mode is for the vocabulary you meet by the dozen — words copied from an article, a chapter, subtitles or a textbook. Paste the list and the cards generate in the background. The job shows progress, can be cancelled partway through, and can be resumed if it is interrupted.
A workflow that tends to stick:
- Read something in your target language and mark the words you did not know.
- Paste that list into the app and let the batch job run.
- Skim the finished cards and fix the handful that need it.
- Review — FSRS handles the timing from there.
An online flashcard maker with offline review
Card creation happens online, because that is where the AI runs. From then on the deck belongs to your account: add a card on your phone and it appears on your laptop, and review progress stays in sync across devices.
Downloads make the same deck usable without a connection. Reviews are written to a local database first, so a flight, a subway ride or a hotel Wi-Fi that keeps dropping still counts as a study session; the local queue syncs to the server once you are back online.
Free plan and Pro
The free plan lets you generate and study every day, with a daily AI generation quota and a limit on printing and exporting. Pro removes those limits: unlimited AI card generation, unlimited decks, all review types, and unlimited printing and export.
Who it is for
- Language learners building vocabulary in any language pair, in either direction
- Students turning a chapter’s word list into a deck before an exam
- Teachers preparing a set of cards for a class without typing every definition by hand
Sample word lists and CEFR-graded decks (A1–C2) are included, so you can start reviewing before you have built your own cards. Streaks, daily goals and a study calendar keep the habit visible.
FAQ
Is EnjoyCards really free?
Yes. You can generate and study on the free plan. Pro is optional and removes the daily generation quota and the deck, review-type, printing and export limits.
Can I create flashcards in a browser?
EnjoyCards is an app for iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows and macOS rather than a browser-based editor. Your decks, cards and review schedule sync through your account, so you can start on one device and continue on another.
Which languages can I make flashcards in?
Over 100 languages in either direction, including right-to-left scripts. You can learn English from another language or learn another language from English.
Can I edit a card the AI generated?
Yes. Every field can be edited by hand, and any single field — an example sentence, a collocation, a definition — can be regenerated on its own.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Downloaded decks and reviews work without a connection, and local changes sync back to your account when you are online again.
Can I print flashcards or export them?
You can print paper flashcards and export decks to Anki or CSV. The free plan includes a limit; Pro removes it.
Start with ten words
You do not need a 500-word list to begin. Add the ten words you keep forgetting, let the AI build the cards, and let FSRS decide when you see them again.
